Interactive Tech for Events

Touchscreens come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and most of us have used one at a business event in one form the other. In particular giant touchscreens are one fo the most effective ways of engaging audiences. Touchscreens at tradeshows and exhibitions have some typical uses and some less usual ones. Let’s take a look at some of the options you might try out at your next event.

1. Touchscreen lead capture

Lead capture is probably the most common example of a giant touchscreen being put to good use. The configuration makes it easy for one person to tap in their details while standing.

For the event organiser, the touchscreen kiosk is also much more convenient in terms of data capture:

  • You can add your GDPR-compliant policies on-screen
  • You can capture explicit consent, which is a key component of GDPR
  • All of the details you capture can be stored securely in digital format, so there’s no chance of losing the paperwork on the way home
  • You don’t have to manually transfer your leads to a digital system later, so it saves time.

2. Touchscreen games

Giant touchscreens are often used for branded mini games to attract your audience and create a buzz. Gamification is a big topic at events, particularly if you want to engage and entertain. We’ve covered touchscreen gamification in more detail on our blog.

3. App demonstrations

The best giant touchscreens run both Windows and Android, so you can deploy an Android app by loading it straight onto the device. You can also run a Windows application if you have some software to show off at the event.

The big advantage with this method is that the software can be used by the person viewing. It’s a hands-on experience. You don’t have to connect external devices to the touchscreen, so there’s no cabling to run, and no extra power points to find.

4. Interactive venue guides

Getting around an event can be challenging for delegates. Printed brochures are fast being replaced by touchscreen kiosks that can serve as interactive, up-to-date replacements. Your team can create content for the event and deploy it within the guide, and you could also include video content from sponsors, or social media live feeds.

Putting giant touchscreens at strategic points helps delegates to feel connected, and it also makes your life much easier if there’s a last-minute change or an announcement that you need to deploy across the whole venue.

5. Instant Orders

If you’re offering goods at an event, a touchscreen is a really good way to take orders or allow people to purchase there and then. Using a touchscreen kiosk, the user can log in to your system, or create an account, and you can capture that sale before they walk out of the door.

This is a great system for events where you have multiple exhibitors, or in a space like a gallery where purchases aren’t typically taken home the same day.
