Hardware and Software Engineer

Location: Based in Chiswick, West London with daily field installations throughout London and the UK, plus occasional EU travel.

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Hours of work: Due to the nature of the events industry, you must be willing to work flexible and unsocial hours, often with long days and tight deadlines. Weekend work is regular during our busy events seasons. In return there will be plenty of quieter periods with lots of flexibility for a happy work-life balance.

About the Hardware and Software Engineer role:

When a touchscreen rental is booked it will be your primary responsibility to;

  • Test and prepare touchscreens with the required software, following the Account Managers’ instructions
  • Deliver and install onsite, throughout the UK and Europe
  • Provide technical support and advice throughout the rental
  • Collect at the end of the rental period.

 

It will also be your responsibility to;

  • Manage stock records
  • Manage, maintain and quality assure all stock
  • Manage and maintain the warehouse
  • Learn and support 3rd party software systems
  • General support for the team and admin.

In addition to the above there will be the opportunity to learn how to build software within our software platform. You will become part of the core software team responsible for delivering software projects. No software experience is required for this role, however, you will need a high level of attention to detail, a thirst for knowledge and be able to pick things up quickly.

Experience required to become a Hardware and Software Engineer with us:

Essential:

  • Full, EU driving licence, 2 years +
  • Willing and able to drive a large van
  • Comfortable with heavy lifting of large screens, stands and other equipment
  • Amazing customer service skills with impeccable communication
  • Excellent timekeeping
  • Keen interest in technology and general aptitude with computers
  • Passionate about making things look fantastic and work slickly – you should love to make people say WOW
  • Quick to learn new technologies and think outside the box to meet client requirements
  • Initiative and motivation to work on your own, as well as being a team player that never lets colleagues or customers down
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).

Desirable:

  • 1 year’s experience of a field-based role OR experience working in the events industry (ideally exhibitions and conferences)
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 operating system
  • Good knowledge of modern browsers, including Google Chrome
  • Working knowledge of network management and settings
  • Experience of installing and maintaining 3rd party software
  • Experience of working with touchscreens, self-service kiosks/PCs
  • Experience of working with touch technology
  • A creative flare
  • An eye for design.

Business Support

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Term: Full-time, permanent

Location: Chiswick, West London

Hours of work: 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday

About the Business Support role:

In this varied role you will be a core member of our team; the glue that holds us together! As a small team and a growing company, we need support across the business. The role is perfect for someone who likes diving into different things; from office management and logistics, to sales and marketing, to operations, to finance and HR. You’ll be based in our studio in The Lightbox (Chiswick, West London), a stylish and modern business centre that’s host to a range of growing tech companies, creative agencies and fashion brands. With most of the team being on the road during our busy seasons, you must be self-motivated and happy working alone. At the same time you should be a real team player who is willing to get stuck in; in fact you should relish having a central role within the team and enjoy the responsibility of making all aspects of the business run smoothly.

Primarily it will be your responsibility to carry out the following tasks in the below areas:

Office Management and Operational Support:

  • Be the consistent, friendly face of the studio – managing the day to day running of TouchscreenRentals.co.uk HQ
  • Be the point of contact for staff whereabouts – you’ll be the person that knows where everyone is at any given time
  • Be the first point of contact for customer telephone enquiries during the hours of 8:00-17:00. This will include basic support calls, sales support and general enquires
  • Dealing with utilities providers
  • Maintaining office stock
  • Booking rental vehicles
  • Booking equipment repairs
  • Ordering equipment
  • Health and Safety and Fire Safety duties
  • Maintaining company policies
  • Documenting company processes.

Logistics Management:

Once fully inducted into the business it will become your responsibly to manage the logistics of our rentals. When a touchscreen rental is booked it will be your responsibility to:

  • Allocate stock to the rental
  • Enter the delivery and collections into the Master Diary
  • Allocate Engineer shifts
  • Keeping in constant contact with Field-Based staff
  • Keeping customers updated if an Engineer is running behind schedule
  • Constantly think of ways of improving company logistics.

Sales Support:

  • First-line sales enquiries (in job training provided)
  • Creating and sending quotes
  • Updating CRM system.

Marketing Support:

  • Update website content
  • Maintain Google Adwords Campaigns
  • Marketing emails.

IT Support:

  • First-line technical support enquiries (in job training provided)
  • Software testing and quality assurance (in job training provided)
  • Occasional preparing of touchscreens (for big projects when it’s ‘all hands-on deck’).

Finance Support:

  • Inputting team and business expenses
  • Creating and sending invoices
  • Processing client payments by phone.

HR Support:

  • Managing annual leave requirements and maintain records
  • Maintaining HR policies
  • Managing temp/contractor agencies
  • Booking freelancers and contractors
  • Supporting recruitment of new staff
  • Organising team building and social events

Experience and skills required for the Business Support role

We prize talent, ability and personality over experience and qualifications! Here’s what you’ll need to be successful in the Business Support Role:

  • 1 year’s experience in an Office Management, PA or Admin role
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
  • An assertive and direct approach – ‘bossy’, ‘control freak’, ‘perfectionist’ are all words we like to hear
  • Amazing customer service skills with impeccable communication
  • Experience working with Outlook
  • Excellent timekeeping
  • Keen interest in technology and general aptitude with computers
  • Initiative and motivation to work on your own, as well as being a team player that never lets colleagues or customers down
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
