Three Ways to Use Quizzes at Healthcare Events

Quizzes and surveys have a well-established place in the event planner’s toolkit. Used in the build up to events, they can be utilised to gauge the number of people planning to attend, or as fun interactive marketing content to help build a buzz around the event. Used afterwards, they are ideal for gaining quantitative feedback to help assess performance and inform future plans.

Increasingly, organisers are also using quizzes and surveys during events themselves. You might see an exhibitor set up a questionnaire on a touchscreen at their product stand to gather leads from interested visitors, or a keynote speaker using questions sent via a smartphone app to build audience participation into their seminar.

This approach can be particularly beneficial at healthcare industry events due to the emphasis on knowledge sharing and the professional development of best practice. Used appropriately, quizzes and surveys can provide the medium through which delegates can share ideas and insights and learn from others.

Here are three great ideas for bringing your next healthcare event to life using quizzes and surveys.

Lock in learning

Many healthcare events have a strong educational element to them, with many exhibits, seminars and workshops focusing on new developments in clinical practice, technology and policy. There can be a lot for delegates to take in and planners are keen to think up innovative ways to make information sharing as simple and convenient as possible.

One approach is to let attendees complete a quiz at the end of every workshop or talk. Like a lesson plenary in education, the idea is to let people repeat what they have learnt during the session through a simple exercise, helping to lock it into their memory. Quizzes could be sent via a dedicated event app, or attendees could be invited to take part on the event website. Alternatively, interactive touchscreens could be set up at every venue, with delegates able to take a quiz as they leave each session.

Interactive workshops

Similar to the idea of using quizzes to help participants digest what they have learned, it has been proven that active participation increases knowledge retention and understanding compared to passive listening. Quizzes are a great way to get an audience involved in a workshop or seminar, and today’s digital technology makes it simple to do.

Using a phone app or dedicated PDTs, a speaker could carry out on-the-spot surveys or test out the audience’s knowledge on a topic, incorporating the results into their presentation. Another idea is to set touchscreen kiosks up around an exhibition, allowing visitors to answer questions on the exhibits as they browse, again raising engagement levels.

Consult on best practice

We have already mentioned that knowledge sharing is a major focus of healthcare industry events. Whether they have a new piece of MedTech they are looking to bring to market, or they are promoting a new policy framework, exhibitors and speakers will focus on making improvements to current clinical practice. And what better way to source ideas for how that can be achieved than by asking the professional healthcare community?

It only takes a simple question – ‘how would you use X to improve clinical practice,’ or ‘in your experience, how has X been used to achieve better outcomes in care?’ Using a touchscreen kiosk located at stands and around speaking venues provides a convenient way for delegates to share their ideas as and when it suits them. Responses can be collated and processed in real time, with chosen answers shown on a display screen, and the body of insight used later to create valuable reports to use as marketing materials post event.
